Eighty years ago, guided by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, farmers in Gujarat’s Kheda district came together to form a dairy cooperative, ensuring fair value for their milk and securing their livelihoods. This initiative gave birth to Amul, now the world’s largest farmer-owned dairy brand, handling over 12 billion litres of milk annually with a brand turnover of ₹90,000 crore (USD 11 billion). Today, over 36 lakh dairy farmers are proud stakeholders in its success.
Building on this legacy, the Sardar Patel Cooperative Dairy Federation Limited (SPCDF) has been launched under the leadership of Hon’ble Union Home and Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah, under the Multi-State Cooperative Societies Act, to extend the cooperative model across India and drive the vision of “Sahakar se Samriddhi.”
